I reuse them if I find them - fairly often they get stuck in front of the marble and go for a ride...a short one at that.

good work you did, i love full metal air rifles (now we can call it air rifle)
you did wonderful work with the barrel too ,and thats make me wonder , why anyone did not ask you how did you make the rifling to the aluminum barrel ??

Bad pictures, but the text will get the message across nicely.
It took me several tries to get the tool just right, but once you've got it it will only take minutes to rifle the barrel. (depending on how deep it is, and how tank you are)

far_cry theres a recent topic on rifling an aluminium barrel by inonickname if im not wrong
The one with the camera which focuses on the background instead of what he wants it to. Its here: http://www.spudfiles.com/forums/how-to- ... 18699.html
His method is supposedly easier to work with with softer metals(aluminium)
inonickname, is that you(more than)environment? Doesn't seem that environmentally friendly if those wads are mostly destroyed after a shot, but at least you found a way to give those plastic bags a final ride

Why not carve a stock for it?
Could you describe the rifling process a little more, like...how is the nut sharpened?
I got pretty close last try, but halway into the barrel the nut buried itself into the wall...
Why doesn't that happen here??
Anyway...very good job, just....it deserves a wooden stock and a bolt...

@ Btb, at the start I was thinking minimalistic mainly..but I reckon you're on the money, with a 4x20 scope and a nice drop stock I could probably make this thing look quite nice
The nut has a taper cut into it to make cutting the riflings easier, similar to a tapered tap. Leave the back at full height. Next, cut away (starting at the highest part of the bolt) at the angle you want the riflings at, keeping it identical on either side. Come to think of it, it's not very easy to explain..I'll get photos with the good camera asap.
Twizi, the elbow that the chamber is supported by is at an angle (which sure aint 90) so they end up meeting up.
Edit: I really need to get some polymorph to make a handle with..

Video..

Shot from way back, standing in our neighbors backyard (cam was closer)..I was careless with the first shot and missed, which was kinda lame.
Dad was going on about "it's not accurate enough to use a scope on". So I'm like "bs"..He shut up when I hit a tictac container side on first shot, and that's just with dodgy ass iron sights. So hopefully it will have a scope soon..

Oh by the way here's what's done on the pump so far:

Compression olive epoxied onto aluminum pump body

Check valve before epoxy casting

Fill QD

Piston (floating o-ring type)

Base and fill hose setup
I'll stay to 300 psi to keep that hose alive for the time being- hopefully I can get it replaced soon..
_____________
I tested the pump tonight, and found I shouldn't have crapped around with the check valve. The check valve did nothing, and the nearest check valve was the one in the QD on my gun- nowhere near close enough. I've now modified a nice brass check valve by turning it round and epoxying it into the pump cylinder..Dead space will be near zero.
This pump will be used at 300 psi due to the airline hose used..
300 psi shots coming when the epoxy is set up, sometime after school tomorrow.
