- Here it is. After a whole three days of drawing, cutting, and glueing, the Atom Project is finished. Made of 2" PVC that houses a homemade fixed diaphragm, it takes the idea of my KingPin design to a much smaller level. I opted for a mechanical firing system this time to eliminate the bulk of a solenoid and 9v battery, not to mention all the custom work that goes along with it! It's practically foolproof.
Impressive, no? Measuring in at a mammoth 11 inches, the Atom Project barely dwarfs this 20oz soda bottle. Striking fear into mortals that gaze upon it. - Aside.jpg (15.67 KiB) Viewed 9087 times

- Staring down the business end of A.P, it's barrel is a 9" piece of 3/4" riser material cut flush to a hole in the 2" end cap.

- Here's the blood and guts of the entire operation. The spring loaded ball valve. A little bending and cutting was done to keep the valve profile low. Two "eye-screws" on the side carry a pin that locks the ball valve in the off position seen below. The ball valve is slower and my spring position doesn't cause it to fully open but it's not exactly a huge amount of air to vent!

- Locked, cocked, and ready to rock. I used a nail to show the simple locking feature since I didn't have a cotter pin on hand. But the idea is clear, attach some string or trip wire to the nail and when it gets pulled out of the levers way, the cannon fires! Simple, clean, and best of all - extremely cost effective! Atom Project once again proves, it's not the size that counts, it's how you work it!

I guess I'm kind of confused or not seeing something. How does the barrel connect to the chamber? Sorry for this idiotic question.

the barrel is enclosed in the chamber, its a diaphram valve cannon. that hole at the endcap is the end of the barrel

Ya, i got that, I guess I'm just not geting the concept of a diaphram valve. Is there anywhere I can go to find inside drawings and how it works? Sorry for the hassel.

jjk92, it's ok to post in the official cannons sections even when it's an old topic (as a mod informed me), but when the maker of the gun doesn't post on this site, there really isn't much reason to say "that's so awesome".
