Hey all,

I've had a look around but can't see anything.. Im wondering if you can run co2 straight into a QEV? Are you able to screw a co2 reg straight into a qev (not worrying about thread styles)?? Or do you need to have a expansion chamber for it??

If the qev is rated for high enough pressure (and I would say 1000 or more psi) then it would work fine. And a word on CO2, an expansion chamber is always helpful. It will still output the same pressure, but is less likely to introduce the liquid CO2 (which causes other problems in itself).

ha ha ha i did say reg'd but that doesn't matter it would be nice to know if you can run un-reged c02 straight into a Qev as well.

This was my main concern if you did run c02 straight into the QEV. Will the liquid destroy the qev internals??

Next Question does a co2 regulator let liquid through???

Also with a expansion chamber how big would that have to be? Really you would only need a little chamber wouldn't you as it will stay pressurized??

in my diagramh qev it burst first try on my piston qev it works fine but like hubb sayed dont let liqued be introdeced into system can frezze rubber piston and shatter it like glass
dont play with airsofter with 1000$ gun and play with a 5 dollar pair of glasses

So how do you stop the liquid being entered into the system ? Will a reg stop this ??

I want to be able to chamber fill a qev using co2 what would be the best way to do this ?? Please

Best way is to use a tank with an anti-siphon tube (or similar aparatus).

Are you planning on dumping the 12 g into a larger reservoir or is that the entirety of your CO2 system?

If no reservoir, are you expecting to launch sizeable projectiles? I ask because your performance is likely to be severely limited due to the small oriface that 12 g cartriges employ.

ahhh good point !! :lol: my Apologies

My idea is to Use the 12g co2 and reg as above straight in to a Qev
to use in a hammer valve setup , similar to BTB "old shatterhand".

i'll be using 6mm steel balls . (new valve setup for my SSBA barrel :) )

Am i able to use an unregulated 12g co2 straight into a 1/4" Qev, while using a hammer valve to pilot the qev, so i can have multiple shots ?? (Shooting 6mm steel bb's )

Does that sound like it would work or would the liquid c02 reck the valve ?

I'd be curious to know how you intend to dump 12 g of CO2 through that little bitty hole in say... 0.005 seconds.

Well..

I made exactly what you plan to do.
I used a 12 gram adapter, an elbow and a QEV piloted by hammer valve.

I did have to modify the qev: punch a tiny hole through the piston while leaving the sealing face intact (!!) and a spring behind the piston to close it.

The power scared me.I did not feel comfortable around it.
But I used a 1/2" QEV.
I would do it again with a 1/4" one though as I believe the smaller dimensions mean less force is on the same thickness material.


So yes. It wouldn't be a problem
