You probably tried this already, but maybe if you got rid of the sabot and just used the latex grenade with a bunch of baby power it would still go and there wouldn't be the danger of having the sabot hit someone. The problem with that is you might need a slightly smaller barrel...

Or you could wrap the projectiles in paper around their circumference. That should allow enough of a pressure seal to eject them at the proper speed, but in the air the paper will unravel quickly and be virtually harmless.
All that aside, you'd better ask before whipping out any launcher at a paintball field. Very few organized fields allow such devices for insurance reasons. Many who do allow it will require they be fired at greater than 45 degrees, mortar-style, to prevent a possible direct, high-velocity hit to a player.

The bare grenade will bounce around and misfire in the barrel, even with the baby powder. The sabot absorbs a lot of the initial force and keeps an airtight fit. The sabot also doesn't really fly further than 10 feet or so since most of energy gets transferred to the grenade. ) Most fields wont allow you to shoot grenades out of launchers in fear of taking off a mask. Its mostly gonna be used in backyard woodsball games as indirect fire...im still experimenting with what size grenade/pressure is safe for this.All that aside, you'd better ask before whipping out any launcher at a paintball field.
