Hey guys! I am looking to create a pneumatic spud gun. It will be quite small and will shoot tennis balls. I have decided to use ABS plastic so that my gun doesnt turn into a pipe bomb. (discuss?) I am going with a basic design of a 1 ft long chamber, 1.5 foot long barrel, and a valve in between. How big should the pipes be? (shooting tennis balls) Where can I buy the stuff needed online? Thanks a lot in advance to people who help. :)

The pipe definitely needs to be 8'' for the chamber, yep that for sure.

built completely out of standard off the shelf parts.

Visit the plumbing section of your local DIY superstore, make sure you have a bit of cash on you.

OR

Settle down a bit, make a simple combustion which actually works, have some fun with that, then consider moving on.

Haha :D
Long story short, I was going to do the combustion spud but I was like... PNEUMATIC sounds so fancy! Hence I am now creating a pneumatic spud gun.
Well anyways, if your interested I found a simple pneumatic gun tutorial:

I am scaling the Pvc's to 2.5 inches and making each one 18 inches. Will this work jacks?
(p.s. your link leads to a 404 page!)

EDIT: found a website for buying PVC's

Hey no problem cristofkelley. :)
I will post another thread detailing the build and end result of my simple build, so look around in a few days. I will make sure to pm you the link when I create it! Try to make one too and we can compare our results :)

Don't use a ball valve, A sprinkler valve opens faster and will allow you to be much more accurate.

Ah a ball valve is is the only thing in the online store I'm using, but I will try look around for a sprinkler valve or a dust collector valve. Thanks guys! Will post the build for my gun once UPS ships my orders :)
