Booooooooo!
Getting back into MTN biking pretty heavy. Money could be used for something more relevant to what I do.
I'm sure you'll find a buyer.

Maybe your friend Pedro :D

Only problem with selling. I'd have to dismantle it so that it's not a functioning cannon. Too crazy.... Wouldn't want to attract the wrong attention.

Might just hold on to it. Maybe I'll get into it in the off season

I have to chime in here;

First, beautiful work!

Second, that thing should be good for 500 psi or higher. I would pressure test the tank to 800 psi and start firing it at 500 (assuming you can get access to that kind of pressure).

Oh, as for the piston bump stop, my 1 inch bore cannon uses an aluminum machined piston valve with an aluminum piston and I am using a 3/16 thick flat rubber stop at 700 psi and it is working fine. Your valve is so freaking overkill that you should not have any damage.

Just a little update. I decided to keep the cannon after all. I have plans for a recoil system, reworked valves, new stand, green laser dot sighting, some skinning to really sexy up the look. Not much time on my hands right now but soon. Soon :alien:
Moonbogg wrote:Very impressive. Will it be easy to feed it with over 200psi?
Yes, but honestly it's frickin powerful at 120 to 150 psi.

I hear that. Even if I wanted more pressure/no valve I could easily go burst disc pneumatic fed from a compressed gas bottle. The range is pretty much limitless when the bottles come filled at 3500psi. More limited by size of piping and rating, comfort level etc

I cut a foot off the barrel. It was way to long. Drew up plans for the recoil system. How much travel do you think it should have? vote now

I'm thinking 4" travel. Nice and visible.

I purchased a 400mw green laser some time ago. Bored of it as a laser pen. It will find a good home in the cannon. Looks something like this picture. Visible beam at night. Visible dot during the day.

That's about what the NTW-20 has. Slow motion at 2:10.

Enjoy the 80s soundtrack :D

This is how the recoil system works, in case you're tempted to have this thing shoulder fired:

Also from South Africa, the 20mm Truvelo rifle uses a buffer attached to a HMG tripod in order to mitigate recoil:

I'll be putting the whole gun on a slide. The stand will stay put and the entire gun will recoil. Parts are started. I'm staying with my box push button launch system. No interest in holding the gun while it fires, no need.

Careful with using the green laser pointers as a laser sight - the laser pointer diode/lens assembly's aren't hardened like their green gun specific cousins! You may notice a drop in performance of the laser pretty quickly if the gun has any significant recoiling force.
