Firstly.. Thanks for a dedicated forum!!
We had some free time at work..decided to do a little research into things to build , decided on a psi cannon..

V1.0 is built using 40mm pressure pvc. a ball valve, end cap n a couple of adapters..
The compressor we are using seems to peak out around 110psi(+/-) enough to have some fun :bounce:

V1.2 uses V1. barrel and ball valve but chamber size has been increased to 50mm pressure PVC so there is a 50mm reducer between the ball valve n chamber.

looking for a better way to 'trigger' rather than using the ball valve, and also how to work out the maximum pressure the chamber and barrel will hold.. without finding out the hard way.... so here we are in hope of some suggestions n answers!

so... Fire away guys.. (boom boom tish) :bom:

Ill try and get some decent videos up in the near future.. for now.. the pictures will have to do.(ruler shown in v1. is 60cm).

loading is done at zero psi with ball valve open. kinda like an old musket rifle.
projectiles range from wrapped n taped pamphlets, to lengths of 25mm weighted conduit with sticky foam added for a snug/useable fit.. barrel size is also perfect for the ol' tiger woods ball ;)

although i haven't been able to build one yet, that is exactly what i would try to avoid it looking like.
Also for your trigger you could build a forestock and have a spring attatched to open the ball valve.
when life gives you lemons... make root beer and leave the world wondering how you did that :D

Harsh. It's basic but it works :) many people (including myself) made a ball valve cannon as one of their first projects.

Mine was a 1/2in PVC Ball valve with the chamber made to serve double as the stock.

It was held together with gorilla glue. That was a no-no.

It sure did shoot a nerf dart or a nail dart pretty hard. My cousins all look up to me to see my creations, (I'm 16 and they're 14 or younger) although my past 3 attempts have been fails because of bad pistons, bad hammers, or a crappy pump, my next one will out perform their airsoft guns. I hate to say, but I think they have lost all faith in me

If I remember correctly, my ball valve cracked and fell apart after many, used in freezing and cooler temps. ( I made it towards the end of fall, in Ohio, US. It gets pretty freaking chilly here.)
