This is my first cannon. It is made of 1.5 inch schedule 40 PVC and a ball valve. It fires golf ball cores (see images) nicely, but not much else fits in the barrel. I would like suggestions in the comments please.
I also modified a few golf ball cores for a more bad*** projectile.
Pictures were too large, so I hosted from Facebook.

Nice first build, your weak point is the ball valve though. As it is, it cannot be opened fast enough to give full power potential, or any measure of accuracy. A sprinkler valve is a better idea.

Yeah, the ball valve also decreases my accuracy because when I twist it it jerks the gun. My next cannon will have a sprinkler valve or a QEV. Any ideas for 1.5" projectiles?

Projectiles... i made a pretty wicked 1.5 projectile for my burst disk cannon. I cut in half one of those little hollow plastic training golf balls, filled it with hot glue, let it dry and popped it out. Then, using a hole saw, I cut out a foam body that the warhead went on , and a milk lid for an airtight barrel sabot.

Interesting. I'd like to see a picture if possible. I also found that 5 hour energy bottles work well, but there is a small gap around the sides, so I may wrap it with duct tape until it fits better.

Once you do that, you can cut the bottle in half and use it as a sabot cup for more hardcore projectiles.
