I'm using a 1 1/4" coupling as the piston, and a piece of foam stuff from some case. The foam is air tight, but there is a hole in it in the center... so air is leaking from underneath the foam through the hole. I just need a different.. sealing plate? I guess you could call it that. Any ideas? Something cheap and easy to find. I really wanting this working by Halloween.

Use neoprene rubber or bike inertube. Half filling the coupling with epoxy will also help. After you half fill it with epoxy bolt some neoprene rubber one side and it will work perfectly.

no its not the same, but bike innertube is a very common sealing face with good reason, you can use that without any problems :)

You can buy rubber roof membrain or pond liner at any home center. Menards, Fleetfarm, etc..You have to buy it per foot. Its cheap and works good as a seal or gasget.
