You can do some simple 3d sketches really easily with Google sketch up, just google it for a download, but it might be tough to do intricate parts. Photo shop is great for drawing. Also why dont you take some time and make a piston valve for one of those coppers, it can take the same pressures as a ball vaqlve, and will give you a huge performance increase.
heres some diagrams of them

Wasn't too worried about the black powder part of it all... just his Idea seemed kind of big
Have you to tried making a semi-auto? You can learn a lot from an operation a perhaps modify it to fully auto.
OK thats better now I know what your talking about its a Maxim machine gun used during world war one one of the first non-crank machine guns... With what you've got you may consider a gas blow back design instead. I think you will find it easier to make as the the pressure from the expanding gas will have far more power then recoil. It will also be a more consistent forces to rely on.
A paint ball is .68 caliber just under a 3/4 pipe... you'll have considerable blow by and reduce power and pressure if you use that size pipe. unless you use a sabot or something...

i am using paintballs that fit in a 1/4 pipe, they roll out but at 100 psi can go between 300-400 feet persecond. also i have drawn my ideas. now but i dont know how to post them, please can you tell me.

This forum has a lovely
Search Feature, if you look for words like "auto" and "cartridge" it will turn up tons of ideas that have been suggested and sometimes tried out by forum members.

I will be using a compressor, around 100 psi per shot, copper pipe, paintballs the size of your thumb, and a 3-what ever spring fed, bolt action magazine, iknow this is closer to a bolt action gun, but brlirvr me i have lots of other plans.
I noticed you have programs that enable you to create accurate diagrams displaying the technical workings and physics behind the certian mechanizims. please can you send me some links where i can download them, I have done some interesting sketches of an automatic gunpowder, combustion hybrid cannon. It works like a maximus machine gun, that 1, ejects the spent shell, 2.) allows a new cartridge to slide into the breech, 3.) the reciol pushes back the bolt recocking the gun. the whole main mechanics of the weapon is inside a tube, which is inside a box with springs etc, I havent made a combustion gun, but this is just a theory that i have thought on based on the workings of other combustion cannons. Also the triger lets go of a spring attached to a cube or filed cilinder with the same needle as a cap gun. I know this sounds wiered but it will be fun to disscus and improve. All these plans i would love to draw, ( My brian is overflowing with info of litterally billions of thing!!! resulting in headaches, this explains my awkward rambleings.) I know the main idea will work as i have figured out how a machinegun works, i just dont know what i should use for the main source of combustion!
please send me a link to a easy and free program for drawing my plans
p.s. for those that think i am, please dont call me a nerd, i have lost a lot of friends because of my intrest in things to complicated for thier retarded brains to work out, this may sound stupid but please dont i have enough head-aches in a day!!!!!

Dude, you seem alot like me. I have ADD, an IQ of 127, and I just can't stand it when most people are a lot less smart than I am and trying to explain to them stuff like this is frustrating. I just hold it all back and don't talk about it with my friends much. You are only 13 years old and most kids your age don't particularly enjoy stuff like this. Once they get into their late teens and early adult years, they might learn to appreciate that kind of stuff.

I have made this exact design...oh...4 years ago...and it´s true.
Friction is so huge when the seals are under pressure, it didn´t work.
Not even in a bucket of lube!
The theory is sound, but in practice it fails...

Look up my thread on the Deathray Marble Machinegun and you can see how difficult full auto gets.
I've been working on it on and off for a few months now, and only today I think I've solved it.
I made a valve that automaticly snaps open at a preset pressure and closes quick after exhausting. It makes a loud BANG BANG BANG, unlike pressure relief valves, but it is not far from it.
This far I have got it right, but problems can still occur.I will have to try later when I reassemble the gun
