Seems a shame that their isn't a way to modify these cheap things to be somewhat useful. If I ever have any spare money, I wouldn't mind tearing one apart out of curiosity. :o

They can be converted to hand cranking, but it'll take ages to fill. The compressor is quite robust, the motor however is a complete POS.

I have a few very fast and quite powerful DC motors around, so if this motor dies, in goes a ~200W 12V motor.

you are wasting your time and your money if you get one of these, trust me. And if you have a sprinkler valve, piston valve, or a qev it probably wont even actuate it. Start saving your pennies my friend. You can get a cheapo compressor for like 40 50 bucks american!!

I would get two of those at least and test one up to its highest pressure. The body will last but it's normally the piston(?) that goes. Be safe and cut 20-25% of the failure pressure as a safety margin.

Just go to a scrap yard and pick up an old fridge compressor. That way it wont cost you anything apart from the few small things needed to change the outlet fittings to fit your gun.
