a lot of people are saying the same thing about that episode. I think it's because theres no wasted taling, just right to the point lol.. Also i used the 3" because in my town SDR is very very hard to find. sch40 no problem. SDR good luck lol.. If i do find it i will make a barrel with it because we have some nice warm beer cans to shoot at, shaken of course lol. 8tonsemi you shouldn't have no issue also i was at 144psi for all the shots.

No, I mean a 1/4 inch, a 3/4 inch takes too long to pilot. If you put a 1/4 inch QEV on the back of a mauler, the performance increases exponentially. Same thing with a 2 inch sprinkler valve. 2 inch sprinkler valves are literally the most powerful valves for the price. They are even more powerful that a dust collector valve, when piloted with a 1/4 inch QEV. You can buy a 1/4 inch QEV on McMaster.mattyzip77 wrote:Evan did you mean a 3/4 qev? A 1/4 seems rather small for a 2 inch valve??

I have 2 1/4 inch qev's and I m o the 3/4 inch ones are alot faster on a barrel sealer. I just got a 2 inch sprinkler valve in the mail today and I will post performance when I get the cannon made. I got a 2 inch and a 1 1/ 2 inch sprinkler valve for 24 dollars shipped!!!

24$ dollars shipped. Thats awefully cheap. The valves i buy are hunter PGV valves professional grade, They have some beefy insides as well as diaphrams, i've seen the guts of home depot and cheaper brands. There is no comparison. what valves did you get i'm interested now? Wondering if i'm buying overkill on my valves. 2" hunter pgv valve is 50$ here locally and thats discounted cause i grew up with the manager.

They are irritrol valves and I got them used. These are as you say "beefy as hell" also. I got them from the same guy as 8ton. Photo at link below.

Oh very nice, how are you going to pilot them? Is there a new method now instead of modifying the valve? I noticed you guys were talking about put a 3/4 valve with that?
If you want a 225 psi rated valve consider one of these:

I have used the 1.5 inch version.
They are pricy but perhaps the best sprinkler valve available as can be seen by their 10 year warranty. They are glass filled plastic bodies.
Here is picture of the valve and my piloting scheme.

I will most likely use a 3/4 inch qev, evan mcc said a 1/4 inch one would be better but I dont see how. I have a few of those as well so I will see which works best and find a winner.

I saw someone use a 1/2 inch QEV on a 3 inch sprinkler valve, and it worked incredibly well.mattyzip77 wrote:I will most likely use a 3/4 inch qev, evan mcc said a 1/4 inch one would be better but I dont see how. I have a few of those as well so I will see which works best and find a winner.

I think that is the bigger sprinkler valve I ever seen!!
That also looks like a asco/flex kleen 3/4 inch diaphram valve I have that I use to pilot one of my 2inch barrel sealers. It may be 1/2 inch but theres no close up of it. Thanks for sharing that video btw...
EDIT I knew it was a 3/4 inch!!!
