I don't see how that's a problem seeing it pancakes the ammo like that.Maybe you need a heavier bolt though, seems to come back awfully quickly...
However...I tried it with some added weight and it seems to work smoother, more consistent.
Thanks Poland!
The only action so far is what I've shown you...
I'm still tinkering with it...It's far from a completed launcher at this point.
I just welded up the bolt and hammer combo so it won't jam because the nuts and bolts come off after a couple of shots..
I still need to produce some sort of standarised ammo to really see it in action myself, then tinker with it to optimise everything.
Bolt-travel is an issue I ran into today. The way I've got it now, ammo won't be loaded in far enough, or,when I adjust it the spring bottoms out before it engages the lock system.
I need to increase the amount of travel to have it do both.
Easy fix, but I run into all sorts of stuff while I work out what works best.
It 'll take a while to create all parts needed wich then need to work together flawlessly.
A fun process, but timeconsuming.
For instance, tight tolerances on the hammer caused jams.
When I fixed that, the increased mobility caused the bolt to slightly twist and jam.
After a night of tinkering I managed to get it just right.
The head on the hammer I made last night took up some of the travel I had earlier..I'll have to adjust it
I had to change it to get a tight seal without using O-rings, still needs to be adjusted to the new situation...

As I had some trouble with the aluminium parts ( bulky, how to connect them) I decided to getr out the welder and make it full steel.
The advantage is; now I can make it all.
Looks like beardroppings though..
I'll have to paint it anyway to prevent rust so I figure I'll sand out the ugly welds, fill ém up as well as I can and finish it of with some bondo ( and then paint) to get a smooth surface.
Now I have to find some type of U shaped rail to cover the ugly bottom half , hold the trigger and semi stuff and connect the grips to etc.
I plan on making a magazinewell to go around the three sections that currently hold the magazine.
It already works. It loads a round and fires it if I just pull the bolt back and release...

Looking more and more like this every day that passes good to see you're using some proper metal, none of this fancy aluminum malarkey

Hmm..His is looking quite a bit better actually...
And he outshot a guy with a 3000 dollar AR iirc..
So...I might do even better...
Spudshovel AK.. whahahaha!
In the mean time I've added a piece of the magwell.
Pretty soon I'll add the trigger-assembly.
I'm still confident I can make it look okay in the end...
Sorta...
I think..

Although clearly far from finished...I now have a working SMG...
Magazine is now functional, holds 8 rounds.
Any more and the spring will be squashed..
Just put a few rounds through it.
No semi-sear yet but it seems like it won't be worth it as I can do single shots very well by just tapping the trigger.
Blowback works fine so far.
Lots of parts still to be made!
Already imagining what it'll look like...

How many shots do you get from that tiny chamber?
BTW I have A LOT of magazine springs that I got from airsoft GBB rifle magzaines, I can give you for free if you want they should hold far more than 8 rounds.

Thanks for the offer, but 6mm springs won't do..this is 10mm.
The smaller diameter springs I have curl up and jam inside.
Maybe I just need to cut it shorter and then stretch it so it can hold more rounds.
I still need to run a line to a paintballbottle in the shoulderstock...without an arline attached I can get only two shots off...
The second lacks power.
Most of the space inside is taken up by the CBHV , the large checkvalve and the plug on the end.
It holds just a couple of cc's I quess.
The bottle I have seems pretty bulky...maybe an 88 gram disposable bottle would work well??
I might try a 12 gram though.
It only needs to last 8 shots.

They are 10x6mm square springs, the airsoft mags holds 2 lines of bbs. Anyway, looking really cool and I have no idea how it works this time

Not sure about that...but it sure is cool to load, cock and fire!!
Today I made the hardline from the front to the fitting wich holds the paintball bottle...
I need to get a grip...
Gave her a quick spray-over as I'm trying to visualise the endresult...too soon I know.
Hope you'll like it.

If you have a lathe ( of any sort, including drill press) a drill, some epoxy, golf balls, and some 7-10 mm lead balls, you can have yourself some crazy ammo, I would show you but I hate cleaning up the golf ball pieces and stuff, if your good you can make some uniform ammo. I think I'll turn some golf balls later just for fun.
when life gives you lemons... make root beer and leave the world wondering how you did that

I currently use lightweight plastic beads.
suits me fine for testing purposes.
Way cheaper than lead balls.
Anyway..
I built the metal structure of the grip, just need wood to cover it.
I've also found a nice piece for the trigger guard...just need to think about how to attach it.
Filled the bottle to just under 30 bar..
I got a couple of two shot bursts...the valve is dumping pressure too fast for the bottle to keep up.
Might work better at higher pressures.
Maybe I need to remove the checkvalve wich is still inside the firing reservoir.
Starting to look nice:
