would it really be so difficult ? there are number of possiblities: you could use a time fuze or add a contact fuze that will release co2 when the needle/blade/pipe is all the way in the body

Well, if you're stabbing someone, that's usually the general idea
A prize for Captain Obvious!

Hmm, interesting, but I do have my doubts - I wouldn't be that surprised if it was banned as inhumane pretty quickly.

Besides, I although can see it as very useful for say, a diver - surely hunters (and soldiers, while I'm at it) would have more effective, and longer range, things to resort to?
If you're hunting something that requires something more complex than a normal knife to stop it, firstly, I wouldn't want to have to wait for it to get that close, and secondly, presumably you'd have a rifle or some other firearm anyway? I mean, what exactly were you hunting with in the first place?
I don't think that it would get banned. Especially for being inhumane. I can see it banned in hunting, but not in diving. Honestly, when your being attacked by a large animal, don't you want to be able to completely blow its head clear off?

Explosive bullets that can explode in the body exist, to discuss their manufacture is beyond the scope of this forum.

yeah I know that... and currently I am not interested in making them... I am just pointing out that's possible to build something like that...

I've used the word 'fuze' not becasue I am suggesting using explosives but becasue I lacked the right word to describe a mechanism which triggers the valve with a time delay - that's all

A few years ago I was actually considering making a 12g CO2 round that would penetrate a needle into pumpkins and inject the CO2 to make them burst open. Unfortunately preliminary tests of directly injecting CO2 were generally disappointing and the project never got any further.

It's a gimmick really - that explosive effect is a result of the bullet's extremely high velocity and the resulting shockwave it generates while passing through the air, the "exploding gopher" will result from a close enough shot from any 0.223 bullet.

For reliable killing power it's better to have a bullet that remains intact in order to penetrate deep enough to reach the vital organs. Note how even an ordinary 0.223 bullet will break apart when fired into tissue analog:

Speaking of cool knifes

I heard the old switchblades where the blade came strait up (not swung in a semi circle to be at the top) could be modified by removing the stop on the blade. Then when you hit the button it would shoot out like a little rocket and you could "stab someone halfway across the room"

So im going to try to make some thing like a knife that sticks out all ready but then can be shot out if you want to

I see that being very unstable in flight. I doubt it could be used as an effective weapon.

it would be a full lengh knife you could slice and stab with then at will you could launch the blade (maybe with pressurized air, co2, propane) at your enemy

First, you'd have to find a place to put pressurized gas in a friggin SWTICHBLADE.

A discussion of why "ballistic" knives are silly can be found here ;)
