You can ...and you should tighten the barrel up with turn buckles.

But damn.....get a sch80 barrel....it fits so many common stuff found the the grocery store.


I tried a 6" barrel and found the shot of air blew a hole through everything biological...and destroyed just about everything I crammed in the barrel.

A sabot or soft start is needed.

yeah, I also want to get a 30 foot golf ball barrel, along with a 25 foot tennis ball one.

with the 4" barrel (dont have a 6" barrel yet) I have crammed over ten pounds of ammo, including a bag of potatoes, apples, pumpkin, and concrete filled gadorade bottles in at the same time! the recoil was ridiculous.

it went through about 5 sheets of plywood, and a piece of sheet metal I stuck in there by mistake.

Man, I dig that paint job. It'd take me like 2 hours to do something of that quality. As for that barrel bending, why don't you try strapping an I-beam underneath, parallel?

I'm sure the recoil's insane when you have heavier ammo. I've been developing a recoil dampening system for larger cannons like yours, it's like that on modern artillery which sits on a carriage, allowing the gun to slide back a bit and a spring cylinder I built pulls it back slowly back into battery. (For those who don't know.. Battery: the position of readiness of a gun for firing) The benefits are two-fold -- one, the gun's more accurate when shooting at the same target because repositioning is unecessary, and two, the gun itself suffers less stress than without it. It sacrifices a little bit of power, but I'm much more confident in the structural integrity of my larger guns.

I would like a recoil system, but for now, the wheels allow it to roll backwards when shot, enough to take most of the stress off the gun.

I'm going to try to bend it back before I build any braces.

I do indeed. And I'm quite picky when it comes to details, especially with paintjobs.

Considering how long the barrel is, it should be fairly easy to bend it back into place. Get a friend to help you roll it across a very flat surface, pushing down on it as it rolls. That is, if it's detatchable... But even so, you should be able to bend it back into place since it's so long. You'd be using some nice torque from the end of the barrel, if you know what I mean.

Use bigger wheels so it will roll more freely make a carriage for it like the ones used on the Neapolitan and civil war era cannon. Then put a ramp behind it, and a stop in front, so when it fires the heavy loads it rolls up the hill and back down into battery. That’s how they used to do it.

Schmanman, that's a sweet idea. I wouldn't be impressing anyone with my hardware since I just moved into a new house and I've had to give up a few of my big guns, but by the time something like that's organized, I might.
