Christmas Present for Nic (Updated: Damage Pics and Vid)

This is my friend Nic's (signed up as NicExtreme on the Uksgc) christmas present, he said he wanted something he could use all year round and would be great fun every shot he took.
So, after about a week of thinking about what I was going to do, I decided to make my very first Bolt Piston housed in a copper reducing tee. Because it was my first, there were obviously teething problems, like - the Piston didn't want to pilot properly, and then it didn't want to seal properly and so on and so forth, but I finally got the old git to work, and my god is it powerful when actuated with that 1/2" QEV, the added bonus is the very small amount of pilot volume. It'll make a bolt stick into the concrete wall (accident) at 50psi.
For those who are wondering, the silencer does, actually work.
This was also my first time soldering copper pipe.
I'm going to spray paint it either matt black and leave some copper rings around the chamber and barrel, or spray it dark matt blue, havn't really decided yet.
Specs:
120cm x 15mm barrel
80cm x 22mm chamber
20mm Rubber Washer and Bolt Piston
^ Is Piloted by a 1/2" QEV
^ Is Piloted by 1/4" Blowgun
Filled through a schrader and Check Valve
Just four out of the twelve joints are compression fittings.
I would upload more photos, but its such a tedious process to shrink file sizes and all that crap, but will on request.
Let me know what you think...
Edit: This is the new video that me and NiC made of his spudgun that I made him for christmas.

That is one beast of a cannon. I'm sure Nic will have a very merry Christmas shooting the presents he doesn't like with this. I would paint it black because that is like the best color for a gun. I just wonder how you're going to wrap it? Hmmmm?

Looks great for a first-time solder job.
I would not paint it if I were you, as metal has a tendancy to flake/chip off of metal surfaces. It also can looks realy nice & shiny if polished up well with wire-wool.
What pressures have you tested it up to? I can see great potential for this gun.

As an opener, some negatives.
-A 1/2" QEV is just total overkill for piloting a valve that size. And I admit it's still total overkill for piloting HEAL's valve, which is a full size up on that.
-Also, I'm not keen on the zip ties, it doesn't fit well with everything else.
-And toes in the picture?
As a whole, I can't help but be reminded of another cannon I saw on here recently... actually, that's not a bad thing.
@Daberno123: Black is also the "colour" that is most likely to panic a person if they see a gun shaped object painted in it.

yea i agree with Ragnarok, don't paint it, and I don't like the zip ties. Go with hose clamps instead, it looks much cooler and shiner

I think that it looks awesome, not unlike Rags' beast.
Sterling effort chap
Any damage pics? Or do we have to wait till after Christmas?

I had a 1/2" QEV going spare, so I thought I would use it.
The zip ties are just holding it together whilst I stick on some hose clamps.
My Toes.
Yeah, there was another cannon, I believe that you will find it here > http://www.spudfiles.com/forums/1-2-qev ... 10406.html
Yes, I think we all now know that you made HEAL...Well Done Ragnarok, cookie?

Yeah, thats not a bad idea, the solder joints need a bit of a cleanup with the wire wool.
I've only had it up to just under 50psi so far, and even at that pressure, it'll fire a small bolt into the wall. (accident )

A 1/2" QEV isn't doing it any harm, unless he has another use for it he may as well keep it on.
Nice copper cannon by the way, I'm tempted to make one.

Great, the photographer's shoes aren't enough anymore, we have to throw in two extra pairs as well
Seriously though, nice work, it looks like it deserves to be taken to high pressures to exploit the power potential.
At risk of living up to my efficiency nazi reputation, one small comment - I know that it makes much more sense ergonomically to have the blowgun mounted mid-section, but why not have it mounted directly to the QEV, then use a rod from the pistol grip to the blowgun to trigger it. In this case however, since the QEV pilot is already overkill to some extent, I don't think you'd see an appreciable difference in performance.
