Simple Pneumatic

This is one of the coolest cannons i have ever built, it is a simple pnematic with an infrared 180x scope on the top that is really kick ass.

It is a modified video camera that was old so i removed the tape assembly and i left the battery pack, eye peice, camera, mini lcd screen, and the video output ports.

It looks like a scope now.

The whole thing works great, i can see 150ft in the dark with this thing and it will be more if i build an infrared light array.

Here are some pictures.

so..... its a ball valve cannon with a video cam taped to it :? great, we're more impressed by power around here. nice idea though :D

i would say the ingenuity is very nice for a first build, and i think its cool how you use the video camera and all. But what would make it cooler would be more power, and with the assembly you have now, its not going to offer you the fun of blowing a hole through stuff like 1" plywood once you get to see how much force we can get with inginueity of our valves.

To second LikimysCrotchus, try making your cannon more powerful. A way you can do this is by replacing your ballvalve with a sprinkler valve. Read up more on sprinkler valves to learn how they work and how to mod them. I like the infra-red scope idea. Wonder what I could get away with shooting in the dark...........

I have built cannons before a couple combustions and 1 full copper cannon but i do not have them anymore.

This is not my first build, Altho stupid this is the first build that i used pvc cement and primer! very dumb to use cement only in a combustion

I would have used a solenoid valve but i was not able to find any at my hardware store, do you guys know where i could get one for $20 or less?

And the air tank on this is small i know, i would have made it bigger but i had a limited budget for this $20 so i had to make do.

I just thought this was cool to have a camera on this.

I wish i had my copper cannon but i lost it, it was huge at about 8 feet long with a 1 inch 4ft long air chamber and a 1/2in 4ft barrel.

I never got to test it but i have a feeling that at 200 psi it would shoot like a gun.

Man that would tick me off. That copper would cost a pretty penny. How did you go about losing a cannon 8 feet long?

Instead of a solenoid valve you could use a Quick Exhaust Valve also known as a QEV. They are meant for the quick exhaust of air out of pneumatic cylinders, but we happen to use them for pneumatic spudgun valves. They work on similar principles to a sprinkler valve and they are pneumatically piloted rather than solenoid piloted. They cost about $20, built of metal, and can take pressures up to 150psi. Here is a link to some: http://www.fastenal.com/web/products.ex ... m_search=1
Hope I helped!

Ford gt man, the 8 foot long copper cannon was about $60 to make and how did i lose it?

Well it was a three piece breakdown gun, you can take the barrel, valve, and tank apart and them reassemble it so it is not hard to lose things when they are like that.
