Interesting parts

We had a reverse-osmosis unit at work that was due to be thrown out, not one to see good parts go to waste I did some scavenging and got my grubby mitts on the following goodies :)

Air cyclinder, compressor, three solenoid valves and a bank of 14 poppet valves - oh the possibilities :D

Eheh, if those 14 poppet valves get tubed up to a BBMG of some sort it's going to look like half a dozen octopi wrapped around some piping.

When I cut the tubing to remove it there was that "ripping a beast's heart out" feel to it, almost shed a tear :(

They were originally mounted parallel to a shaft with a series of eccentric cams, which leaves me thinking that an electrically driven full auto piston valve that alternately fills and empties the pilot chamber is a distinct possibility...

looks like one of those 100psi ones

Probably, I haven't tried it yet but the gauge it was hooked up to only went up to 80 psi.

Where do you work and why does your job involve a reverse osmosis unit?

When you're making Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients, clean water helps ;)

Looks like a useful part. Not sure what you'd do with it though.

When I worked HVAC, my boss was constantly like "get out of the scrap!"
I always wanted to come in after work, volunteered to pick up the scrap on saturdays but the owner said he had a company for it.

Heck with enough hydraulic or pneumatic parts I was reading an entire computer could be built not even using electronics, Interesting!

Mostly NASA researchs that stuff for high temp. or military app.s.

Heck the human brain has valves, electrical, and chemical circuitry, Pretty easy to reproduce too just not artificially! 8)

Kinda like my design...? Actually, I've been tossing around that kind of concept in my head for about a week, but I've already got two projects I'm working on and I don't want to bug my parents for more money that I need to build them. But yeah, if you want, I could draw up a diagram of it for you.

Thats a VERY nice find JSR! There's alot to do with it.
First check out if you can get that compressor to work.

For the air cillinder, what pressure would it be able to have?
You could use it as a pump, or, as a pneumatic ram

Spudders have a third eye when it comes to scrap n trash, they convert it into useful parts.
Scavenging can not only give you awesome parts, but also they're for free!

haha, i go dumpsterdiving for AMMO!

well... its good when you find sharp metal objects that wit your barrel, right?

@vovka are you russian?

@jsr so are you going to use these popet valves for a full auto gun ?

I personally would use them for a semi auto gun less wasted ammo.

I think it would be cool to control seperate bbmg's with each one and set up a little battle field with two sides.
Like table soccer sort of only battle figures that shoot each other maybe.

BTW, I found a teacher who could solve ADD (Attention deficit...) !!!
for myself atleast:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8O35jrFkTUE&feature=user

Edit: Ooops, Posted the wrong link so i changed it to other link.
