The WaterDawg, my new cannon, now has a beautiful, sharp looking coat of paint and is going to appear shortly for an interview working for the Okanogan County Search & Rescue in the county where I live.
The power, accuracy and distances I can achieve make this one of the funnest things I've done.
However, using it for life saving brings credit on all of us.

I am also working with The US Forest Service to pursue possible applications in forest re-seeding in extremely rough terrrain.

I love it. Bigger is better. I like how you use it for usefull things also, like for reseeding hard to reach places and stuff.

Wow. Thats mind blowingly awesome. Did you use a Spudgun Technology center design? It reminds me of the Agrigultural Tornado Simulator that he made.

i think he designed it himself, but he got the supah's from spudtech if thats what you mean

Yeah, that was what i was aiming for. But really, it doesn't matter anyways since the man who mananges that site does that for a living, and just making something like that is a feat that i, or anyone can respect. Once again, great job.

I used Krylon Fusion paint.
I really like the stuff.
Use it for other things like the block on a crane. Works great and covers good.

Yep! I got the Supahs from Joel. His mega videos showing the water bottles traveling sideways thru particle board did me in.
The Waterdawg cannon is a real crowd pleaser and extremely powerful.
The Supahs are a no-brainer and work great!

The design of the cannon was to use the shape for trunions for angling up and down. (I have yet to build a holder as the gun is fairly easy to aim....even straight up!) Also, the tees and 90's add to the cost but also add cubic inches and keep the thing contained in a smaller package.

The barrel unscrews. A down side to the design is lack of a natural support for the barrel. I used a a short piece of PVC pipe cut to fit the 6" chamber and shaped to fit the 3" scd 80 barrel and with a strap wratchet it fit so tight nothing moves and it can easily be lifted by the barrel and the manifold.

The cannon seems to be very well balanced not only for handling and moving around but also when firing. It is a heavy cannon but the weight is needed when launching heavy projectiles.
Despite the lack of inherient water bottle aerodynamics the Waterdawg cannon is very accurate. The first round fires for effect and after that, the rounds go roughly in the same spot time after time provided the pressure is the same and the projectile is the same.
If you launch something light.....5 or 10 lbs remain but if you launch something heavy....20 or 30 lbs remain in the chamber.

20 or 24 oz bottle make killer sabots. I cut the neck off the bottles. The seal is so tight I had to drill a small hole in the maniold to relieve the air pressure so I could even push in the sabot or a water bottle!
The are reuseable and only fly 30-40 feet and add to the spectacle.

We were trying to shoot a water bottle into a cave about 160 yards away and up at about a 45º angle from our position. It took four shots to lob a water bottle in a 5' diameter cave and the other three never missed more than a couple of feet.

The sound a water bottle makes when traveling past you is scary. Kinda like a bedsheet being torn. The speed is so fast a human simply could not react to the projectile. I dunno why I included that but I had to just get out in front of the cannon once...(Not close btw)...and it was enough.


What this cannon does better than anything is launch golfballs clean out of sight. My best guess is 1/2 mile. I use a sabot and a ball.....although 3 or 4 fly even better and cause havoc if aimed at most targets.
Single balls zoom all over the place and there is no accuarcy. To counter that I drill a hole in the ball and pound in a nail. The accuracy then is almost perfect....the ball seems to fight to stay on course.

Shooting water bottles straight up is another crowd pleaser. Only do it on a clear blue day so you have a background to see the bottle. Watching the bottle go up and up and up and then down down down gets an ovation every time.

During construction I made fixtures to push the fittings on. With 6" there is no pushing and turning...just pushing. I used fresh black glue.
And you better get it right or you just glue junk.
I bolted a hook like piece of flat bar on the end of a 2x4 and had a piece of punched metal to adjust and hook on to. I'd secure the piece to be glued and then was able to push down and hold with the 2x4 working against the punched metal bolted against the wall.
It is unforgiving if you goof!

Once created this cannon is a real asset. I've had an offer of $700.00 and couldn't part with it.

truely awsum, a simple tip that will make golf balls way more accurit- use longer tail, and build some kinda nose cone, maby out of bondo, auto body putty, you can mold the ball rite into it, or maby just make a cone shaped jig to the barrel bore size a make your ammo just out of bondo, i fly a lot of model rockets, the pointer the better, no dought about it!!! let me know if you try the bondo idea, thanks

A couple things. Could you port the openings of the supah valves and use bigger tubing to make it fire faster? Like instead of using what apears to be 1/4 tubing, you could drill and tap them to 1/2? Then set it up to release using a modded sprinkler valve?
Also, is there any way to eliminate that 180 turn from the outlet of the valves to the barrel? Like turning both supahs in 90 degrees and be able to get rid of those elbows feeding into the barrel? Basicly have the supah valves feed directly into the 3 way the barrel is connected to.
Also, could you use the 3 inch manifold, but just put a little pin to prevent things from going through?

4. if the manifold was bigger there is more dead space to reduce the performance
