Ok here's the scope... if you call it that,
Im making a Go-Cart and it's almost finished and i wanted to have a pneumatic tennis ball gun on it or something along the lines of that on it....

but i want to have it controlled so i can fire it when driving,
how would i have a sprinkler valve that lets about half a second of air out then closes off, and then i can do that many times ???

No. You can't.

Not EASILY, that is. You can use sprinkler valves to do such a thing, but the level of difficulty of building the thing would be up there with a ghetto Eclipse knockoff. You're really asking for trouble when you want more than one shot out of something.

sooo what if i only wanted one shot but needed to wire it to a control panel, would i then have to use a electrical sprinkler valve ??

That would be simple to do. Just mount 3 9 volt batteries in the go cart panel and a intermitant switch...

All sprinkler valves are electrical.

All you need is ONE 9v, a button, some wires, and poof! Working valve. I prefer to use two 9v's, though.

this is actually completely wrong, you just need a HP air source, a regulator, and a feed to your chamber, sprinkler valves are made to reseat when there is still pressure behind them... I use my gun semi auto all the time hooked to my compressor, and shooting water since its easy to reload automatically... so because of the design of the valve, with the right air source, its VERY EASY, just use the valve as is...

ot attach a ball valve as a pliot, grind off the stops on the handles so that the handle spins all the way around, then attach a cam instead of the handle, then have a belt going to the wheel. That way you get two shots everytime the wheel turns all teh way round

A cam design? I thought it was already proved that taking the handle off didn't work? I know theres several posts containing that on here somewhere.
Other than that sounds like a simple electrical job. As for the reloading system theres plenty of designs and such on here

I'm fairly certain from past experience that it does work, I have often thought about using it on a gun but Never built one that warranted such a design.

I have a ball valve lying around somewhere, ill try it out and come back with a definite answer.

Stifler69: A cam is like a sprocket except it doesnt use a chain, it turns the other parts either by spinning off center, or by a belt.

I have just been out to the shed and attached a ball valve to the compressor, with the handle completely removed and an electric drill attached where the handle was. at high speeds it has very fast but small bursts of air, which should be enough for piloting a sprinkler, but if the bursts arent enough then all you need to do is slow own the drill and you get a longer burst. I will try and get a video later today, but everytime I tried to record a minute ago the drill fell off the ball valve, as it doesnt fit in the chuck very well

A cam is actually an egg shaped rod. The egg shaped bits are called lobes. They're in motors and control the intake and exhaust valves.

Dax, I don't hink you've taken everything into acount. Yes, it is very simple to wire up the valve to cycle semi-auto. It would be simple to wire it to full auto. It is simple to plumb the chamber to a compressed air source. Those issues aren't the real challenge though. The real challenge is semi (of full) auto loading of ammo. That is where you get to what SEAKING9006 said; "Not EASILY, that is."

"Shooting water since its easy to reload automatically." But if you're not shooting water then the reloading mechanism is not "VERY EASY".

Woops, thanks for correcting me Twitch, I don't really know much about cams and wheels, I just refer to them as wassecollys (doesnt really mean anything)
