I just thinked of that:

Why no make a sort of sharp hammer that will break the burst disk?

The hammer will be actuated by an sort of spring powered system actuated by an trigger.

This sort of valve will use raw power of burst disk and it will blow when you want it to.

Been done before, and it works nicely too, just need to find the link.

Well anyway point stands, its been done, but it doesnt mean that you cant build it, i think you should.

How would you seal the "hammer" so it doesnt leak? I think this is a great idea though.

Who cares if it's been done before? Simplify it, make it more efficient, make it more ergonomic? It's a powerful valve when done right.

Oh yea you can just tell by the recoil of the cannon when you watch the videos.

And its actually a pneumatic ram, not a hammer, but i know what you guys mean. So i still think you should try doing what mark said. It would be nice to own one, but i got other plans.

Simply a single acting pneumatic cylinder, you let air in to force the piston and the rod one way then when you let the air out a spring hauls the piston and rod back to where it was.

Oh and it was a broadhead arrow he was using, not really a hammer type thing
