when i go to the link provided in wiki, then i go to archives, then i tried all 3 versions available. None worked, they all said there was an error - thats all.

I virtually guarentee your computer doesn't say "there was an error."

What EXACTLY does it say.

And I've no idea what link is in wiki. Similarly, the archives may or may not be accurate. Hint: look at my sig.

That sounds like the problem. You're trying to use the archive versions, which all appear to be dead links (and if they were working, I'm pretty sure you'll be missing the required additional files.)

Instead, click on Installation, follow the instructions there and try again.

EDIT @ cheeseboy: I'm running Vista and it works fine. Although for some reason it insists on being run in administrator mode - at least... the most recent version does.

The slightly older download which got copied across from my older hard disk seems to work fine without being in Admin mode...?

What the.... :? so here comes that same old worn-out, overused, faux advice.... Cheeseboy, what qualifications do you have that would put any real credibility in that advice?

Also, you do realize GGDT doesn't run on a Mac don't you?

ok go to where ever you saved ggdt and double click on it, now you should let lots of files one of the is called GGDT, right click and press run as administrator, then it should work.

Most certainly.

If you open the properties menu on the executable, go to the compatibility tab, and select "Run as Administrator" (which you will need to the privileges for), it should then work. You could also run it in XP compatibility mode, but that's not essential.

Oddly enough though, I've just disabled the Run as Administrator option on the executable, and it's now working fine - although I know it wasn't before I activated it. I am using an admin account though, but even then, because UAC is active, it usually asks for permission before any admin requiring features. Not a peep out of it.

Although as D_Hall said once, it shouldn't need admin control, because there's nothing it's trying to do that needs it. Perhaps I've done something to finally convince it of that.
