HDPE works fine. Here is an inch and a half piston made for my Mouse Musket, a coax with a 2 inch chamber and 1 inch barrel. It wouldn't take much to adapt this to other sizes. My barrel has an o ring seat, so the piston does not need a rubber face. I made it that way to make the piston lighter.

i would be cool but i don't have any readily available hdpe nor any ability to accurately machine it (at the moment) i was thinking a hot glue piston do you think that would hold up to 400 psi

How did you make the wood one?
HDPE can most often use the same tools.
HDPE often comes disguised as a cutting board.

Give me $2 for shipping and i'll mail you a small piece of either 1" or 2" HDPE. I bought the wrong size, so I'm not using them.
