Well I was screwing around with my co-ax tonight, doing a few shots for pictures. Lo and behold, I hear a pop from the epoxy I had used in a vain attempt to cover some pinhole leaks.

The pinhole leaks were unacceptably big, and I decided the only course that would work was to completely remove the epoxied in fitting. Some vice grips resulted in the pipe and fitting being crushed into an oval shape and the brass fitting shattering everywhere.

%$^&.

I salvaged the piston, barrel, fill/pilot etc but the chamber is a goner. Gonna go and grab a length on galv. pipe tomorrow and see if I can work some magic.

Don't underestimate epoxy.

I wish my epoxy was that strong...

Well I to have a tale of epoxy, but a fail on it's behalf.

See were that aluminium tube goes through that nipple?Well it was full of epoxy and it managed to work itself about 10mm forward from the pressure of airing my cannon at 250psi.....Sweet.....

Let me guess, you didn't roughen it enough. I roughened mine, and there's no way in hell you could move it.

I have a die grinder..similar to a dremel, except runs from an airline and is many times more powerful (I bored out the gas transfer ports in mine)..

I decided to saw off the coupling, turn down another coupling and bore out the end again. After it was all said and done, I lost about 1.5cm of chamber and barrel. Not too bad.

I'll do some very low pressure tests tomorrow and it will be good to go saturday.

dont feel bad i recently had the barrel and ball valve from my first pneumatic gun, held on by that epoxy putty because at the time i didn't know about pvc cement go flying about 50 feet when the epoxy gave hold to only 100 psi...
