belt fed cartidges

I would love to have a cartridge firing semi auto gun, but with my tools, making huge amounts of cartridges takes far too long. I cant risk losing the cartridges when they eject, so I want to make a belt fed gun. I know belt fed pneumatics have been done before, but I haven't seen any design sketch on how the work. I've been thinking a whole lot about this, and I haven't get a thing!
any help is appreciated, this is confusing me to the highest degree

The designs shown there would not do what he wants, he wants the cartridges contained in the belt, so they wont be lost. Think nerf vulcan.

I think you will have problems with the belt fed concept. Although it is cool, there are very few working cartridge pneumatics and they are very limited in available power for an operating mechanism. The belt concept is almost guaranteed to increase the recoil force needed and therefore is most likely impractical to use.

Not necessarily, if your cartridges were miniature coaxials piloted by a schrader you could keep them in the belt and trigger them in a different manner, a rotating spur comes to mind.

oh.. I just realized I skimmed a bit and thought he wanted the carts to be extracted from a belt and separately ejected.

I don't want self-contained cartridges like JSR, I just want them to hold ammunition seperate from the valve

I think the nerf gun is electronically fed, so I don't really want to go down that road

I'm sure you could figure out a way to use a couple cylinders to load a cart into the breech and another to push a seal into one of the carts... sounds like a job for a 3-way to me. Kind of hard to explain what I'm thinking though.

a belt may be excessive for semi auto, but it seems like it would be simpler than a revolver.
I have a three way and an air cylinder, but I can't think of a way I could cycle the belt

That's the thing... it's surprisingly difficult. I suggest taking inspiration from the Nerf Vulcan and solving the problem with electronics. It's much easier to accomplish indexing that way rather than with pneumatic mechanisms when your access to tools and such is limited.
