*Updated* 4" Piston Valve now mounted to FEAR
This is my final project for a class at Stanford, which is why I haven't posted on spudfiles in a while.
The video is of a 75PSI test with compressed air. The valve is designed for operation pressures of 1000psi and use on my hybrid cannon FEAR. Porting is 4" and the valve is all steel construction.

I have a fluid dynamics final in an hour so better specifications and descriptions will come next week when I'm on spring break.
*Update*
The valve is now mounted to FEAR's combustion chamber. Connection is made by 4" DOM steel tube lobster backed to make a 90 degree elbow for improved flow. Testing is postponed until I return from Stanford as is patent process. I have better things to do then wait 38 months for one.
Note on the photo: only three tie rods are present to hold valve together for picture. Testing will require all seven rods put into place after a thorough lubing of the piston.

Self piloting?
Unbalanced spool valve working against a spring til it reaches X pressure and vents?
Also, scale doesn't quite come across in that video until you note how small the fridge compressor looks.

Yeah that's what i'm thinking though using an air spring like me and SB15's piston hybrids.Hotwired wrote:Self piloting?

This thing is bloody amazing, cannot wait until you strap it to a cannon and get some 10x mixes through it

Was that a horrible pun or a typomark.f wrote:Words cannon express how cool this is.
Amazing stuff Killjoy, the scale of it is simply mind blowing and if just 75 psi sounds like a detonation, it's going to be terrific as a hybrid!

I am impressed. Hybrid or simply pneumatic, it will be very impressive. Do you have an application in mind such as rooster booster?
