piston gun help!!!
Im planning on build a mini piston gun, just to screw around with but came to one problem
I want to take a 3/4 inch by 1/2 copper reducer copper fitting and sand the lip that makes the pipe only go in so far, if i sand the lip off where the 1/2 inch copper pipe goes in,
When i go to solder it will solder just fall through?

Depends on how much solder you use and how well you control the heat. One good thing about working with copper, you can redo it if you mess up as long as it aint to bad of a mistake. Practice, practice and practice some more, it's really not that hard to do.

Solder will wick into the joint when the pipe is clean, the temperature is correct, and there is a little flux. You can even solder uphill on a pipe in the wall. Apply a little solder to the joint and watch it wick up into the joint. Keep adding solder until no more wickes into the joint and the solder starts to form a puddle. Done.
It will quite literally suck up into the joint by capillary action.
If the joint is overheated, the pipe oxidized, or no flux, the solder will ball up and fall off. Do not solder over a nice carpet or anything else you don't want molten metal dripped on.

All the copper parts i get for free, Where i go to school
there is a box with scrap pieces that I can use. just got to clean them up a lil bit
you guys have any ideas what works good for a piston going 3/4 inch copper pipe, and sealing up against 1/2 inch copper tubing
was think of a bolt and washer or a piece of 1/2 copper tubing with washers to stablize it on both ends and rubber washer on the front and o ring on the back, with a bolt going though the center to hold in all in place

I used different sized washers to form an o-ring groove. I found a socket works really well, i might just stick with 1/2 copper all the way through,
but just gotta find the right piston to use
what size pipe is that piston made for?
do you have plans???

Plans for what??? obviously its a bolt washer piston with a o ring, rubber sealing face, and different size nuts and bolts. :dontknow: :dontknow:

I'm sure you have the capacity to go to a hardware store and pick stuff off shelves and try fit them inside a piece of pipe that will be your piston housing.
Actually, why don't you just scale Gun Freak's plans down to the right size? How hard can it be?

im gonna use a 1/2 copper pipe about 2 inches with bolt through the center and metal washer and rubber washer in front for a sealing face then a o ring in the back
matty i can do things on my own, i just like asking quesitons
if i cant get the pipe piston to work, im going towards a bolt and washer

yes true, you were able to glue the bushing to your barrel and screw it on the piston housing!!! good job dude!!!

Rubber cork. Best piston in the world, IMO.
they cost about 50 cents.... and they come in copper pipe sizes!
Most hardware stores carry them... most big box stores don't.
Also, if you use of of these, you dont even need a bumper.... as the piston is solid rubber...
No bumper, no sealing face to worry about.... i made a 1/2'' porting piston valve with one of these.... it has been shot at 500psi many times. (100+)
EDIT: The taper even works as a check valve, (kinda) if you use the right size.... just put the wide end facing your sealing face.
Im sure you dont need plans for a 1 piece piston. (sarcasm)
