just getting a better look, thats a huge chamber volume for 6mm? dont think you will need heaps of pressure that way. im running about 30cc @ 250 psi and going through paint cans with steel bb's but need more volume i believe for my C-B ratio

thats very niice you should make interchangeable barrels a 6mm barrel and a 4.5mm (.177) barrel

Of course it is used for good cause jack

I have not used it with the paintball tank yet...(waiting on a fitting to arrive)
I have only used it with a 100psi compressor so far, and it puts plastic
6mm bbs through 1/4 ply board @20 metres no problem. So i figure
it should go like a rocket with 300psi.... Also it is a lot more
accurate shooting with 14grain steel 6mm bearings than
the .25grain plastic bbs. I'll post some damage/target grouping pics
when running @300psi soon.

Do you know where to get .177 or .22 rifled barrells from?
I got this one off ebay, its a 650mm 6.03 id airsoft
barrell. I would much prefer a proper rifled barrell,
but they are hard to get hold of in australia?

Hey jack, i forgot to mention in my last post..... A fair
bit of air comes out the bottom of the trigger/pilot when it is
fired.... Is this normal, or is my firing tank to big and im
wasting air through my trigger?.

I have 2 ninja regulators with remote lines. One is
300psi regulated and the other is 800psi regulated.

Do you play "far cry" on ps3 lol,.. i have that game
too.

Remind me, this isn't semi auto right, you're dumping all the air from the chamber?

Naturally whatever is in the pilot area is "wasted" in the sense that it doesn't go towards propelling the BB, and the bigger the pilot area is then the lower the rate of pressure drop and the slower the valve opens.

There are ways to design a piston valve to avoid the "waste" by exhausting the pilot down the barrel:

I don't think the added complication would be worth it though.

Considering you now have a mini-lathe, I think the coolness factor of this design would make it worth your while

I'd like to see the design get built, even if it's only so someone can say they've made it.

Well, technically anyone who has a dishwasher or washing machine has a valve that works like this.

Yes, i want it to be semi-auto. it will have 300psi regulated air supply from
the paintball tank eventually.... I got a couple of those parker 3 way valves
for triggers you mentioned a while back too, should i be using them for semi-auto
instead of the blowgun trigger thats on it now?..... I put that blowgun trigger on because
it was easy to fit to the stock, and i also wanted to test it out with my compressor to
see how it shot with 100psi.

I don't think the added complication would be worth it though.

Yup, for semi auto you want to connect the 3 way valve to the rear of the QEV, then leave one port open to the atmosphere, and connect the other to the regged air supply.

addendum: if you're going to bother making a pull operated trigger with two sealing o-rings, you're better off making a QDV directly...

Okay cheers jack, in that case i think the hardest bit will plumbing in the the 3 way trigger/valve to nicely suit my stock i reckon.... Can you use flexible hpa type tubing to plumb the 3 way valve in you think?... Also i have another pre-maid (Barnett predator) crossbow stock i want to turn into a air rifle as well, so i'll check em both out and see what suits what the best.
