btw my bottom airtank is made out of galvanised steel ... so it is heavy ... heavy fittings ... and where my pilot valve is there are a few fittings that are heavy ... so yeah i would say it is 5 kg

Aluminium works fine.
You could get a small aluminium paintballtank and drill out the valve to increase flow.( and loose a couple of grams of material!)
Just add a brass 1/2"modded solenoid valve triggered by a 1/4"brass ballvalve that doubles as a fillvalve anduse an aluminium barrel.

You should be able to use around 35 bar safely...

You could launch styrofoam projectiles and use helium as a propellant gas if you;re really serious about the weight thing..

I think what you need is a more efficient launcher.
Using a better valve and higher pressure will allow you to decrease chamber size while maintaining decent power. The majority of the weight of my launchers was, until now, in the barrel. What is your primary ammunition? Perhaps an aluminum barrel will suffice.

My latest project focused mostly on precision. I believe ergonomics has a lot to do with it so weight was one of my primary concerns.

Its not finished yet but heres a sneak peek...


On top is the action... a 3/4 piston valve launcher with a total of 22 brass fittings, aluminum bolt and barrel, full length picatinny rail and some other chunks of metal. With the optic it weighs only 2.3kg!
On the bottom is the beech stock I'll be putting it into. Current weight is 1.2kg but once I finish the outside shape and mill out the valve/chamber area I estimate it will be under 1kg.

This thing was designed from the ground up to be what it is. You cant build a freighter and expect to be able to shrink it down to a jetski and still carry thousands of tons of cargo...

yeah buddy i own a few rifles .303, .22 and an airgun ... ive used M4, Mp5, Fn Scar and a M9 so to answer your question yes i have handled firearms... and i weigh 92.8 kg so im pretty big, but i am trying to make my gun more efficient not compare dick sizes.

Check out Ebay for analytical balances, (they are called balances in chemistry, not scales, you upset scientests and lab techs saying scales), or head down to your local gun shop and pick up a reloading balance (they call them scales).

Ebay should be under $500 for a decent balance, but if you only need 0.1/0.01g accuracy, then a $10 pocket balance will do the trick, a lot of pyros use them.

You could replave the heavy reservoir with something made from aluminium.
There are weldingrods on the market for simple electric welders especially for aluminium.

I plan to do so as soon as I learn how to keep the promisses I make...
