Semi/Full Auto Paintball Prototype

A piston valve full auto/semi auto paintball gun. Onboard air tank gets about 15 good shots, but I hope to use a backpack air supply instead. Very bulky and ugly for now, but it's just a proof of concept. Video:

It looks terrible :) but function over form, nicely done!

Is there some kind of blow forward bolt regulating ammo feed or is it a simple tee magazine?

It is quite ugly :)

Just a simple tee feed with a detent to keep paintballs from rolling out the barrel

Very nice work. So the large air chamber has a "cracked" ball valve between it and the smaller reservoir, which allows the length of pipe right before the tee to fill before each shot?

Also, does the automatic mode work by simply cracking the blowgun valve and allowing the piston to bounce? Or is there a mechanism in the end of the blowgun like here?

Also, there's some DWV at the end of that reservoir. Just be aware of it and consider rebuilding with safer parts.

EDIT: derp.

The automatic works by the ball valve being "cracked" just enough to fill the secondary chamber, but not enough constantly push the piston back.

Which bit of pipe is the DWV? I thought I got all schedule 40 pipe. Would 70 PSI be a safe zone for the PVC?

There is a secondary chamber (the gray length of small pipe) and a cracked ball valve that refills that chamber

Simple, but it works. Nice. I'm actually surprised you got that to operate fully auto. Bet you couldn't do that again :D definitely a concept worth improving on.

Thanks. Didn't expect full auto, but it's a nice bonus!

If you have a little money to spend, I would consider a 48 cu paintball tank and regulator for a much more compact setup. It should cost less than $200 to set it up.
