This is my first project and am keen to get started, I have ordered and received a QEV from China. Are the more expensive brand name ones worth the extra for what we are using them for?

For qevs apart from closer tolerances and better seals are there any details/spec that it is preferential?

What size is it??
What does it look like ?? Generally speaking the european type QEVs are the best as they can handle the high pressures and are quite efficient

It wasn't really specific, but just generally wondered if items like Bosch Rexroth, Parker Legris etc Offered any improvement and whether or not say this one

Is this any better than one straight from China or are they just making a nice profit?

Àlot use the same style case and I wondered how to tell and if there was a difference? To my untrained eye the one in the picture you post could be a $5 one from China or a Bosch Rexroth costing maybe 3-5 times the price, but what I am really asking is there a benefit when used in our application? Most seem to list pressure as 100psi altholugfh I have seen a few at 150.

Its very expensive, butnI believe top brand, when I have managed to get the hang of things after my initial gun, I would like ro use this Valve if suitable

I might have to fix my photo bucket tho but, it works well in my 6mm and iv taken that to 350 psi before my damn 3/2 valve leaks...
Does anyone know what brand 3/2 normally open valve I can buy to take over 10 bar?

Not really any difference in performance between the block type and the "European" type for the smaller bores, though the latter type do seem to scale up better.

To answer the original question, for spudgun applications I wouldn't bother spending more on brand name stuff.

Sometimes there is a difference between cheap european QEV which are made out cheap aluminium and have poor tolerances for the threads and more expensive ones which are nickel plated brass with better machining
