I think I have my model selected. I am going for a very simple one because I am a complete beginner. I have:
-QEV
-Slide Valve
-12oz Co2 paintball tak
-Ball valve
-Connectors for each part

What I plan to do:

-Place a spring in my QEV to help it reset

-Have my air tank on the « A » port of my QEV with a ball valve to cut the flow

-Have my slide valve on my « R » port of my QEV (QUESTION HERE: Do I need anything behind it?)

-Barrel on the golden «P » port

WOULD THIS WORK?
If not, WHY? and what can I do to make it work

So my plan is to have the ball valve cut the flow from the tank to my QEV, then release the Slide valve to create a difference in pressure to suck in the piston, allowing a quick burst of air.
Am I correct?

This would allow the piston to move back easily?
Wouldn't this setup be different than the one I proposed?

1) No
2) If I'm understanding your post correctly then no

You say you're connecting your tank to the A port, which is also where you're suppose to have your air chamber. And you've stated you're cutting off the flow from the tank with a ball valve. So your chamber must be between the ball valve and the QEV. Reason for hole in piston is so that air can get behind the piston, that way, pressure within the pilot and the chamber are equal, since that is how QEVs work (if you've done your homework)
