New valve design

I got creative in class today, (something rare if I was doing what we were supposed to be doing. ) Anyway, I came up with this valve design. I just found that 2 1/2" pvc fits over 2" pretty well. It would need some seals or possibly something strong rapped around the 2" to get a good seal.

No, I'm not actually gonna use a 2" ball valve. i just didn't take the time to put detail in anything but the actual valve.
I designed it around a threaded tee so if i have problems I can always get inside and fix stuff. I learned that the hard way from one of my other cannons.
The 2 1/2" cap on on the "piston" would also need to have a rubber seal on the end of it, something else i forgot to include.
And lastly, i forgot to draw a fill valve before the ball valve on the right.

Let me know what you guys think.

That's kinda vague how it works. Could you better explain and/or draw it?

Squeaks, if you dont know how it works don't bother asking. I'm sure other people who have expierence know how it works. It's basically the same as a normal barrell sealing piston valve.

I know how piston valves work, I just can't make sense of your drawing.

the peice of 2 1/2 inch pipe with the cap on it inside the tee is the piston. when you open the ball valve the pressure drops in the 2 inch pipe and causes the 2 1/2 to slide back opening the barrell.

Ok, I get it now, and then air would just leak around the piston into the chamber. Nice design, I like it. What size of gun do you plan on puting this piston in?

Hey don't be a dumb a$$ just cuz someone is new to how things work.

anywho onto the topic. seems like toomuch work for that when you can just make a normal piston valve. Also, no one that i know of would really want a big T shape cuz if the pressurecambers big then it's in the way.
in your disighn i don't see any small holes to let air behind the piston to equalize the pressure before firing, unless u juust want to wait and get old while it seeps behind the piston lol.
good idea and glad your thinking but just an old diseghen made bulky lol. Mabey you could use it for mabey a back pack type of pressure chamber or somthing liek this...

That valve is going to require some serious pressure diferentials to actuate... which will make it a very quick valve, if it manages to open.

(you can almost certainly get away with one O-ring, though...)

OMFG thats exactly what im building at the moment,i just bought 2 new 1kg fire extinguishers for $30 to use as the chamber mounted to my back then a flexi hose around 1" dia into a massive 1" blow gun or another valve that can do semi-auto and i will have a 18mm copper barrel for marbles or PB's

its not an exact drawing. I do realize it will need an equalization port.

As for the backpack, that would kinda destroy the point for designing this. I plan in the future to make a large cannon, almost like a mega launcher, utilizing two valves like this.

Looks like a fast opening piston valve with not as much flow as a normal one if you ask me. Good luck.

And one hell of alot of pilot air...

Uhh...whts the point then? just make a normal but BIGGER piston valve...i think the backpack is cool. for all i know only 1 person has made a backpack cannon. hmm...sounds like some kinda terorist thing lol...anywho what ever floats ur boat is fine with me lol. Just make sure you post pics of it when you make it! :P

lol Mrcrowley thats pretty kool. lol how far are you with it sofar?
