I'm just about ready to start slapping my first pneumatic together, but my dad saw a picture of an O/U gun and raised a good question: Should I proceed as planned, or make it O/U? I haven't bought most of the fittings yet, so I can go either way. Also, could someone post pros/cons of each?
NOTE: If I were to make it over/under, it would have two chambers, so it would be freestanding.
Over/Under or Straight?

If you go over and under do not fix the barrel at an angle! It may sound like a good idea now but when you get it built you’ll understand. This is the voice of experience talking, I’ve tried that, it doesn’t work.
Just so I haven’t confused anybody, fix the barrel of an over and under perpendicular to the reservoir(s)

Ok now I’m confused… did I not say something right…or did I misunderstand you?
What makes it annoying and hard to aim, why not what?

pros:more compact
cons:less chance of strait barrel, more resistance (friction) for air to it, Air has to travel farther to the barrel, more $$
strait
pros:least amount of air resistance
cons:longer, less stable
so for acomfort o/u for performance strait away.
uhh same lolDom wrote:I think the why not meant Why not put the barrel at an angle?
yea well if u have the big part (pressure chamber) of ur cannon facing a target but the barrel is angled to the right u don't want to hit the old grandma down the street who was about 20 feet behind the target and 4 feet to the right of it.
it basicly makes aiming more of a task than a simple movment.

That's what the why not is about. As I said before, it would be very annoying to aim with the barrel perpendicular to the chamber.

lol I just realized that you used perpendicular for some reason I thought that you had said parallel, thats funny I didnt even comprehend it. oh well its all cleared up now.
You can always use unions to allow the barrel to be adjustable.

K thanks for the replies, and I think I'm pretty much settling for an O/A, for space conservation and so it can fit on this stand I want to make.
Should I get my sprinkler valve from WOW!!, or from another place?
