Hey all, this is my first post. weeee. its a rainy day here in KY, and ive decided i want to build me a pneumatic gun. I have a compustion one, but the pneumatics have always seemed cooler and shoot further. Does anybody know where i can find a good gun to build? also, i would like to use the sprinkler valve, bc ive heard they open MUCH faster than the ball valves. Is this true, and if so, can you get a sprinkler valve at lowes or home depot? THANKS!

One:There are bunches of posts EXACTLY like this one asking what gun to build. Two:Yes sprinkler valves open much faster than ball valves. You can increase the speed een more by modding them to use pneumatic actuation. Three:You should be able to buy them at Home Cheapo or Lowes.

four: all you need is a chamber, barrel, and valve. Buy some pvc parts(pressure rated ones that say nsf-pw on them and not using bell reducers but bushings instead) and just throw them together. Make it up yourself, just make it how you want it to be made.

Remember, Pressure rated!!!! I always get worried when someone new makes a gun 'cause I don't want them to get dwv parts,(ones that say nsf-dwv instead of nsf-pw) pump their gun up to 100 psi, and then have it blow up in their faces.

Might I suggest to fill your gun that you attacht a 1/4" ball valve and one of those silver quick connect pieces. It makes it so much easier to fill your gun with a compressor than trying to use a schrader. Those things are a pain in the butt! I enjoy being able to hook my compressor to my gun and just walking away. Ahh, the joys of relaxation.

How do you know he has a compressor?

Just guessing. Most people do. If you don't have a compressor than of course get a schrader.

See, what did I tell ya. Go with with the ball valve and silver quick connect piece. That way it'll be just like hooking up a nail gun or any other pneumatic device to your compressor. It makes everything nice. Plus, if you have a tiny itty bitty compressor like mine then you can just let it sit while your compressor fills it up over the next 5-10 minutes.

I agree but don't assume and he just said he had a big compressor not a little one.

I have one of the huge compressors, its as tall as me. But i ran into a problem, i was looking at pvc at lowes, and i found a 3" i wanted to use as the chamber, and i looked at the thickness, and the wall of it is like 1/4" thick, so i figured it would work. but on the way home, i looked over and it says **NOT FOR PRESSURE** i was like wtf! is it really not strong enough to hold air pressure?

Most pvc pipe says nsf-dwv on it but should also carry the nsf-pw and a psi on it.

this one is the nsf-dwv and it says NON PRESSURE or something. But it looks awful heavy duty, should i really not use it? im too young to die

DON'T use it. Since its thick I'm guessing it's cellular core which means its two layers of solid PVC and foam in between.

use metal........a lot more practical and a lot more ease of use, especially in winter.
