Pneumatic Plinker Tater Tosser

I made this gun after I realized that I only had made one sprinkler valve gun so far, and it was a crappy one. I've made piston valves and used quick-exhaust valves, but my views on sprinkler valves were slightly influenced by the first one I made. Not good. So, I made a simple sprinkler valve gun with a 1" modded Orbit Watermaster to remedy this problem.

SPECS:

Valve: 1" pneumatically actuated Orbit Watermaster sprinkler valve
Barrel: interchangeable between a 3/4" SCH-40 barrel 30 inches long and a 1-1/2" SDR-21 barrel 2 feet long. Attached via 1" male NPT threads.
Chamber: 12" of 2" SCH-40 PVC
Fill Valve: Schrader valve from Wal-Mart
Fill Monitoring: 1-100 PSIG gauge

Thanks to whoever gave me the idea for the bullet valve cap thingo. Searched the forums but I can't find who came up with the idea. Whoever you are, thanks.

My opinion is as follows:

A sprinkler valve makes a nice little valve for an OK launcher. It would be the kind of launcher I'd give to my friend or brother. The 3/4" barrel makes a nice *thump* when shot and'll send saboted junk into plywood at 90 PSI. The golfball barrel makes a nice *THWAP* sound when fired, but I haven't got any real performance tests for this barrel yet. I think the bottleneck from the valve to the barrel will increase accuracy somewhat, but we will see.

Nice gun, doesn't even need paint. And if I may ask one question, why the coupler and plug, adn not just an end cap?

Maybe. Would have to get some hose clamps to do that. It would definitely help for damage testing, instead of missing the target 3 times out of ten, (yes, and actual statistic based on my accuracy without a sight of some sort).

And the reason I used a coupling and plug was because I couldn't find the 2" endcaps at Home Depot. The box that said "slip caps" was full of threaded caps. Just used what I had available.

I love plinkers So fun yet so easy and small.
Great job on the gun and I might have to try the bullet cap as well.....I have a few shells at home

To increase aiming buy a camera tripod, I bought one of http://www.trademe.co.nz for $2.50(retail$30) because it was broken....1 screw fixed it all
