quick release question

hey, i have heard that qev's are very sensitive to drops in pressure from shrader valves when diconnected after filling, and i was just wondering if a quick disconnect has that problem? if it does then i would need to install some sort of check valve, and does anyone have a link to some small, compact one?

EDIT: relised that it was a quick disconnect, not release. *duh*

I don't know about the pressure drop generated from disconnecting a quick disconnect hose fitting, however, putting a ball valve between your valve/chamber and fill fitting (rather schrader or quick connect) will solve the problem. Simply turn the valve off before disconnecting the hose. In many cases, the same valve can be used for piloting the gun.

Hope that was kind of helpful.

Peace,
Pete Zaria.

ya, im going on the safe side and using a check valve, and plus i havent seen anything about not needing one.

also, i would usually use a ball valve, but i want my gun to be as clean as possible, no levers sticking out for me. :D

I've recently had the problem of both a presta and schrader valve messing with the QEV.

A ball valve locked before detaching the pump connector head or a check valve both worked perfectly to fix it.

Just got QEV heard about sensitivity issues. I've bench tested this setup.

This is my new cannon, you should use a filling station like mine....
quick connect - ball valve - brass nipple - chamber

i think im going to go with an inline check valve...i dont really want to have to deal with the ball valve.

your lucky crowley. i visited NZ over the x-mas vacation, one of the nicest countries ive been to, very clean.

i mostly did the south island (went with my dad), we rented a campervan in christ church and then went from there to franz joseph(sp?) glacier...then we went up the coast and into..uhhh...whitianga ( too many maori names for me..never could get em strait) we then went to picton and took the bluebridge across into wellington and then drove to lake taupo and fished the big river near there... then went to Rotorua and then finally into Auckland. the south island was very quiet driving and all in all i loved the country ( total time was about 3 weeks, not enough tho)

Yeah the bloody maori names, they keep changing the modern names to maori names coz too many maoris got in parliament

I live in Auckland myself, but only been to the south island once.
Once you've done enough driving in NZ the country side gets to you....it makes you go crazy  joking.

See any hobbits
