so this is my 1st pneumatic cannon. my chamber is a old welding tank that can take 600 psi easy,a 600 psi ball valve and a 1.5 pvc barrel that i got from my old combustion cannon. ya i know its a simple one but it has some power. ive only tested it up to 150 psi. so leave your comments and tell me what you think

Well well well! Very nice indeed. Ever thought of burst disks? They are alot easier to use than most other valves.

Its a disk of material placed in a union, and when the chamber gets to a certain pressure it will blow open, only problem is you cant trigger them(unless you make a triggered one like gorts)You have to keep replacing the burst disk and putting it in the union and sometimes they tear istead of blow open. They can be a pain but can have alot of flow and are cheap(homemade) But if you want to take this up to 300psi+ you'll have to make a piston valve(dont ask just search)and replace your barrel with a sch80 one.

Great work, but you might want to change out the barrel and upgrade to a piston valve if you want to take it to high pressures.

EDIT: MrCrowley beat me...

I wouldn't bother messing with burst valves, not when you've got a pneumatic.

They're for hybrid cannons to hold back the pressurised fuel/air mix then burst when the mix is ignited because nothing else reliably opens at the right time (unless you spend some serious money).

ya so i just orded a new golf ball barrel and im lookin for a 300 psi dump valve cuz a piston valve is just much mod work for this gun but im going to make a piston for the next one

+Nice Paintjob. But ball valves hae really slow opening times, and upgrading the valve would increase the performance ALOT!

ballad of Nj, that is the biggest lie I have ever heard.
Metals can be easy to work with and have alot of things that Pvc doesn't offer.
Mostly safety and aesthetics.

Well he's certainly no no0b. He may be new to the forum(like you) but that is a nice high quality 'smoothbore'. Why did you ask him to try PVC if he's a beginer? He's obviously experienced or he knows what he is doing and he is skilled at it. I don't considor that to be a beginer gun. Without the ball valve and a barrel sealer in its place that would be a really really nice gun. And if you have the money I wouldn't turn back to PVC if I was you.
