I'm new to pneumatics so I don't know all the different connections can someone tell me what this connection is called.

I got this tank from work, they were going to toss it out because no company laid claim to it after the plant closed down. So I grabbed it for free and it's almost full.

The reason I asked is my boss gave me a Argon regulator (again for free), he said it will work with CO2 but the connection is the wrong type.

If my memory is right it's a 1/2 in pipe thread that is not tapered.
It seals on a gasket in between the gauge connection and the bottle.

a welding supply store should be able to change your gauge inlet fitting( fairly cheaply (not for free though)

The connection measures 3/4 of an inch

Yes it's threaded in the center and it's 1/4 of an inch

Ya I was so close to a free cannon

I managed to get most of it from work, here is what I received for free so far and no I did not steal any of it.

2x3" SCH80 90º Elbows
6 Feet of 4" SCH80 pipe
3 Feet of 3" SCH80
6 Feet of 2" SCH80
1 10 foot coiled air hose
1 20lb CO2 Tank
1 Argon regulator
1 Asco Red Hat 2" piston valve with a rebuild kit
1 Blow Gun
1 Pressure gauge
and finally all the air connections I needed

Just a few more to be had and I'm ready to fire me some potatoes

Here is a pic for ya the piping and air hose is still in my office at work.

When I was getting this stuff out for the pic I had forgot I also have some parts for more cannons that I also got for free (I really love my boss really great guy). After all the big daddy cannon is going to need a wife and kid

hmmm i being a welder myself suspect that the regulator for "argon" will not work for you.

argon regulators usually regulate lpm (liters per minute) not pressure (kpa, psi ect.

but damn nice valves n stuff u have there and u seem to have more than enough gauges also.

Can you tell anything from this photo? the valve has no info on it other than max inlet 3000psi

yer it will work at 2500psi (maybe a bit higher) 3000psi is on the limit. i got two of these here at mi house one is on an argon bottle, these regulators only control flow, not pressure. soz but you might want to get a different regulator. HERE is a regulator for both CO2 and Argon but as i say again it only controls flow not pressure. your Regulator will display the correct pressure in the tank but will not give you any useful pressure for a pneumatic gun.

Can you use a oxygen regulator with CO2? thats about all that is left at my work, they sold the welding department a couple of weeks ago.
