gun for sister

My sister saw the myth busters episode where they used a cannon to shoot four tennis balls with a net( to catch (pidgons)(sp?). So now she wants me to make one for her she'll pay for it so it'll give me some fun.

heres some designs i made on ms paint.

I know they wont go to far with 4 barrels but im hopeing for atleast 100 feet.

i don't want to make a piston so im either going to use 2 1 inch modded sprinklers or a 2 inch toro.

What? Does that diagram make any sense at all or is it just me? Do the valve(s) trigger all the barrels at once? Is it an o/u setup or does the drawing distort it?

the valve fire's all four tennis balls at once.

That makes a bit more sense now, so whats the point of having four barrels?

do you read? she wants it to shoot 4 tennis balls all conected to one net. its more of a net shoots tan tennis balls.

make sure that the barrels are pointing out a bit or else the net will not expand, what a nice brother you are have fun making that thing, and make sure you post it when it is completed

I will but i don't know how to move the barrels out. A 45 would be to much and theres no like 20 degree one.

nice idea how big is your sister because if yuo make the over shoulder one might be a bit hard for her to use

Shes 14 it will be fine for her with both.

what kind of connection will you have for the 4 barrel to get equal flow, this reminds me of an American civil war experimental canon with 2 barrels that had a chain between the 2 cannon balls, it was build to horizontally mow the marching enemy, there was a lot of problems with it, mainly it was the timing of the canon balls, this caused erratic flight and the chain to rip and the balls flying in random directions, I believe a few people we killed from test including a lot of grass, and a cow
you could learn a lesson or 2 from that story to help you on your cannon

well to get a equalish flow to all four barrels i will have a tee with a tee in both sides then 90s on all of the tees opening leading to the barrel.

this cannon isn't meant for really doing damage just for fun.

well good luck on the cannon i dont think you should have much of a problem if all 4 barrels are the same distance from the chamber then the air should get there at the same time

nah ill get to use it too its like a cannon for my sister and I. I'll probable use it more than her.
