My sight idea

Hey all.

Well I'm in the process of building my 5/8" sniper..And was trying to figure out what to do for a sight. I was designing my own laser dot sight ( By the way i don't want to spend any money on the sight) with stuff I have around my house... And suddenly I had a stroke of inspiration!

I am going to mount a bow sight ( like for hunting) to my gun. I'm only going to use one pin..And I wouldn't be shooting at super far distances ( at least not yet) so it should work fine

I'll post pictures when I finish it..And more details on how to mount will be coming soon as I get further along with the gun..

By the way..I am presuming you all know how a bow sight works.

Any input would be cool.

Only one pin? Would that work like a shotgun pip, or do you have some consistent alignment method to use?

When using a bowsight, your eyepoint is typically fixed in place by a consistent rest position. Without something consistent, you may find that a single pip isn't adequate for any sort of accuracy.

bow sights have multiple pins that way you have one sighted for 20 yards, 30 yards, and one for 50 yards and so on.... some have more and some have less. they have so many so that if you see a deer you dont have to guess where the arrow will go. its a good idea, but kinda bulky for a gun. you might want to make your own peep because bow peep sights allow you to see about 6 pins at a time, since you are only using one you should make it smaller, other than that i think it would work.

Mmmm One pin? dunno if thats going to be good, i guess it would work, sounds a bit bulky for a gun though, good luck man !

Yea I know they have multiple pins..I bowhunt myself..But i don't know where I put the other pins :oops:

I heavily advocate a rear sight of some sort or other, be it aperture or notch... or, heck, a middle bead.

Otherwise, you'll be dependent upon locating your properly head for accuracy... and that doesn't work as well as you might want it to.
