One of those lovely cannons that you throw together in 15 min. because you already have all the parts.

The design:

1/4" NPT to some small hose (I'm forgetting the size right now) for a nozzle.
1/4" NPT Ball valve for the trigger
1/4" NPT to 3/8" hose
A length of 3/8" hose
1/4" NPT to 3/8" hose
Seltzer water bottle with whole drilled in bottom
Hole drilled in cap with schrader valve
All duct taped to an old hockey stick

I know the design could be much more efficient, but I just threw this thing together and don't really care about performance much.

Possible improvements:

A soccer ball pump duct taped to the stick for pumping on the go.
Multiple tanks or just a larger one.
Making it out of PVC!

I'll get a video up eventually . . . I'm just estimating its range to be maybe 30 feet . . . but the tank only lasts about 10 seconds.

I built a paintgrenade filler like that out of some 3" and pipe reducers(3"to2")
and cleanouts. At 50 psi the best water gun I've ever seen  The homemade ones always bet the junk out of super soakers.

Darn. Looks like I might have competition if we ever have a ghetto contest. Just wait till I post my paper mache cannon in a few minutes.

Nice water gun, I'd make one if I had the hose.

Making something out of darn near nothing.... always nice to see. I made a water gun out of a fire extinguisher, back straps remote valve trigger (bicycle handbrake) and a hand held nozzle. Looks like the proton pack from ghostbusters. it was pretty expensive but works very well, im afraid to shoot any one with it at 100 psi. Maybe i should post it....

I just put on a 2 liter soda bottle . . . very fun!
I don't think I'll post pics . . its not that hard to imagine.

paaiyan, try right clicking and hitting "open link in new window"

I think the range is like 30 or so feet.
Better than any of my store bought super soakers!

I think I should upgrade to a fire extinguisher . . but I haven't been able to find and recently that aren't ABC powder (which is bad!) or that have treads for the nozzle so that I could refill it. Eventually . . .

Look on ebay for water based fire extinguishers. They are usually 2.5 gallon ish and are filled with schrader valves. very simple to use, and VERY powerfull. The one i got had standard 1/4" threads at the nozzle, so it is easy to modify. Only reason to modify it though is that it is very heavy with 2.5 gallons of water, thats why i made mine into a back pack.
