I am building a preaty big over under air cannon. I think its going to have a 3' *3" air tank and a 3' * 2. but i only have this pvc ball valve sort of thing. Its a 1" valve and its pressure ratted. Will it work?

I know that ball valves arent the best but will it work? I will probably upgrade to sprinkler valve latter.

Tools like the GGDT exist for a reason.
Learn to use them.

Ball valve - maybe 150 yd.
Sprinkler Valve - maybe 250 yd.
Total guestimation. I've never really experimented with a ball valve cannon.

sprinkler would do you very very well. unless you can open a ball valve very fast chances are the majority of your air will leave after the projectile leaves the barrel

of course the ball valve will work. currently i'm working on my 5th cannon and the last one had a ball valve (others were combustion)
i can open it pretty fast and it definitely works. but for the next one i'm using the sprinkler valve i modded yesterday. i put it onto the other cannon in place of the ball valve and the difference is huge. at 90 psi with the ball valve i was getting fairly similar to what 50psi with the sprink is getting me. 8)
modding them is sooo simple mate much simpler than i thought it would be even. and they are also fairly cheap. but if you only want a ball valve for this cannon then yes for sure it will work.
