The Baby Blow Dart Carbine

This here is the baby blow dart carbine air rifle. This is the little brother of my regular blow dart carbine rifle, which is also posted on here. This was actually the first of my series of blow dart PVC air guns. This one is made of PVC with the exception of the aluminum blowgun and metal reducer bushing used to attach the blowgun tube to the ball valve. When I first got the idea, I had decided to use a regular blowgun as the barrel on this prototype. The assembly is mounted on a thumbhole stock cut from 1/2" pine board. The triggering setup uses a ball valve with an angle brace mounted under the valve's handle and a spring is hooked to the handle to pull it open. The angle brace just acts as a catch to hold the valve closed. Once pulled, the valve handle is able to be pulled by the spring, rapidly opening the valve to release the air. The gun is charged up through a regular tire valve, using my simple one way check valve setup, based off of the diaphragm valve triggering system of many spud guns. Once filled, air pressure in the chamber pushes the diaphragm against the back of the tire valve, sealing it from the air chamber, allowing me to remove the pump's nozzle from the tire valve without releasing all the air. Just like its big brother, this little air gun launches blow darts at a far higher velocity than the toughest lungs can manage.
