WOOD combustion, yeah, you heard me...
ok, as everyone knows many guns on here originate from boredom, while lots of you have a bunch of extra parts and pipe lying around to be used, i don't, so i improvised.
the combustion chamber is wood, the cleanout cap is actually a little door, it swings on a hinge and uses a lock(i forget the name, it's the slidey kind), and a bent piece of metal to keep the door shut, the barrel is 1 inch sch 40 with about a million wraps of duct-tape to increase it to a threaded 2 inch(i think) to 4 inch adapter, then i hot glued that onto the front of the chamber, i went a little crazy with the hot glue, covered everything, oh well it could only help
sorry bout some of the pics being kinda blurry, i was cold, tired, hungry, and i had to pee
pics:
whole gun
top view
closer top view
side view
lock
back, door closed
back, door opened
left side/door hinge
hot glue
no damage pics 'till tomorrow (i hope)
edit: OOOOWWOWOOWOWOWOWWOW...there aren't any smilies for pain, i tried it a little while ago, tried static guard, that didn't work so i used hairspray, when i finally did fire, the back end wasn't sealed up enough and i burnt my finger, ow pain but it did leave a pretty cool scorch mark on the inside if the door
i need square o-rings :happy11:

nice one, love the warning labels

Well THAT gives a new definition to the term 'ghetto'
Pretty much looks like a little tank-like thing and the little soldiers are supposed to enter trough the *door*
Off-Topic: Square guns aren't as safe to use since the corners have to bear more pressure right? (=might blow off in some way or something) Please correct me, if wrong.

precisely why most pressure vessels are cylindrical, though in the case of this combustion I wouldn't be too worried.Tsukiten wrote:Off-Topic: Square guns aren't as safe to use since the corners have to bear more pressure right? i like the little door and lock to

Heheh
You can knock up a combustion from some decently thick cardboard tube with no worries (unless it gets wet...) so wood is no problem.
Hot melt glue FTW
My first cannon was a steel broom handle with a garden hose spray as the valve and and another garden hose fitting with a snaffled tyre schrader to fill it.
Guess what held all those together

well, i didn't have cardboard either, otherwise i would have made something out of a tube, but i didn't. eventually i might get some quality wood, make a nice big chamber, and spend a long time sanding the inside of the barrel to make it real smooth
edit: i'm not worried about it being square, after i made the main body, before i put anything on it, i just dropped it on the ground and kicked it around for a little while (ghetto pressure testing)

you ghetto stompt it? Dude I love it, a bit more advanced that my cardboard one, you have inspired me to go test out my gun with a square chamber (cardboard box.) I took a box and put 10 half inch barrels into it, and Im gonna fire it with my matchhole technique. (off topic)
isn't it really fun just to make something from what you have lying around, especially when it works.

I think that will all depend on your ammo, if you shoot a pingpong ball there will be no problem because the pressure will not build up. also If you are nervous I would rap it in duct tape around the ends.

If you want some fun put some of those plastic army figure in the chamber and then REALLY load on the hiarspray. take some picks when they come out:)
