Talk about the "Potato Cannon "Cannon" contest" here.

Many thanks to ALIHISGREAT for coming up with the idea of "making a cannon from a spud"!

Before you ask, yes I'm nuts! Haven't you guys figured that out yet?

RULE REVISION!

The Rules: 1) The chamber must be at least 1/2" in diameter or bigger and 1 1/2"s long. Max diameter of chamber 1", max length of chamber 2"s.

2) The barrel must be 2"s long, no longer the 3"s long. Barrel bore at least .177, no bigger then 1/2".

3) Workability, you cannon must shoot your ammo of choice. Ammo should be brightly colored so it can be seen easily.

4) Proof, entry must be a video of at least one shot. Video must be at least 5 seconds long, no more then 30 seconds. Pictures also, 1 of the entire potato "potato cannon", 1 of the inside of the chamber and 1 looking down the barrel (the best that you can do). You can add 2 more pics of your creation for a total of NO more then 5 still pics and 1 video clip.

5) Contest starts right now and ends high noon Dec. 20th (EST).

6) No more then 1 entry per member.

7) Only entries in this thread, any other discussion will get you disqualified.

8.) The barrel can be made from anything, and must be mounted to the potato chamber. The barrel CANNOT BE A LINNER FOR THE CHAMBER! The chamber must be all potato.

9) You can decorate with paint or magic marker nothing else.

10) Rules will be subject to change at Mods discretion.

are there any other restrictions, because for larger chambers, a non-potato plug would be useful...

The barrel can be made from anything, and must be mounted to the potato chamber. The chamber must be all potato. (I will add this to the rules).

Could we TRY and make it pneumatic?

Are we allowed to use more than one potato as the chamber?

If i make a glue from dried patato and another patato product will it be ok(no it is not the plastic on instructables)?

As long as it meets the defined chamber size specs in the rules, yes.

Dont mean to be picky but the title of a thread is usually suposed to be descriptive so a title of 'time to make silly........' sprung troll to mind when i read it, would you mind adding contest in the tirles somewhere.

anyway as to the contest does this relate to potato potato canon in any way?

Can the chamber be wrapped in something, if the inside is all patato

just thought that some sort of acknolegement should have been included if you used his idea..

i did post about him stealing my idea... but it disappeared.... (it could have been my crazy internet though...)

@carlman: It is his chance to show us his idea, and if they make a contest because of it then he can be proud and it answers the common do you guys think it will work question.

But i agree that you should tell him your using his idea, even though i guess you most probably did that already seeing you are responsible and trust worthy mods who are the ones we should all look up to .

It might get deleted but if jrrdw did not ask for ALI's permission then its not fair and wrong of jrrdw to post a contest that quite plainly was not his idea to begin with. Jrrdw you should know better.

ALIHISGREAT, if you made mention of a contest in the "potato potato cannon" thread of course I would give you credit for and talked it over with you.

I just checked to be sure there was nothing said about a contest in that thread that I seen as of the time of this post.

Carlman, don't ever again accuse me of doing something I did not do! YOU (Carlman), should know better then to do that.
