I was reading posts and somebody had mentioned a mysterious mapp gas shortage. Evidently the major mapp gas supplier has issued a recall for faulty canisters whcih have caused severe burns and injuries. Thought you guys should know.

Sorry do you have any links or something? Not much use telling us when we don't know who it could potentially affect.

The actual MAPP gas hasn't been produced for a while now, with companies switching to MAP/Pro which is basically propylene. The supplier for MAPP gas closed down.

Mapp is better then propane although you probably wont notice the difference, also you need to meter 4.6% not 4.2% like you would for propane.

MAPP is a trademark, MAP isn't.

According to Wikipedia, MAPP production was discontinued in 2008.

The challenge with MAP (and MAPP) is that the percentage of the various components isn't always the same. That makes getting the proper fuel ratio tricky.
