Hi, i'm new here, i started to interest on cannons, so i want to ask
what are basic things that i need to know about cannons?

Always use a regulated source and always have a safety relief valve.

Never rush and use your cannon before the glue is dry.

Only use rated tubing and pipe.

Remember that the words "high pressure" mean different things to different people.

Test your designs with safety glasses and at low pressure to start with.

Some good advice.

I guess a very general thing to understand that cannons we make operate by pressures generated/released in a quick fashion against a projectile which forces out a barrel.

PVC isn't a great material to use, but it IS cheap and easy to acquire, and can be handled safely if done properly. If you go this route, only use pressure-rated piping like Solar mentioned. Don't drop it, either.
