hey i've just seen that! your cannon rocks, and i'm proud to annouce you that it's amazingly inspiring me for my hybrid. I'd like a precision though, concerning your ignition...what do you use and how did you get it to spark without sending current through the steel and through your hands...

He used a a battery-powered BBQ ignitior.
Just because there is current passing through the steel, it doesn't mean you are going to get shocked. There is current running through the ground underneath you, and you'd never know it.
Just as long as it is easier for the electricity to pass through the steel than it is for it to pass though your hands, you'll never feel it.
