hybrid #2

Harness the power of precision mixtures of pressurized flammable vapor. Safety first! These are advanced potato guns - not for the beginner.

I built this cannon just today. Reason is cuz it has a much smaller chamber size than my other cannon. Now it shouldn't be an issue to shoot at higher mixes. I got the design idea from noname. I'm going to test fire it tomorrow!!

What sizes are the pieces?

I look forward to seeing it in action (in pics and vids) or at least reading some details.

"That really isn't a potato cannon anymore, is it?"

I have a history of admonishing people for not cropping their feet out of photos which goes back several years, this leads to some of the older members doing it deliberately for my benefit

Looks good! Although you know instead of shrinking your chamber you can expand your propane meter to shoot at higher mixes.

That's a 1" union? What's your ammo gonna be?

I would have thought this was a more brazen example. :P

Nice job, sw5amped. A little more info on the metering setup would be cool.

Hey guys..... sorry i haven't check my email in a few days because of work being so busy but thank you for all the feedback. the gun itself is all one and a half inch schedule 40 steel. it is a total of 32 cubic inch chamber. the union that you see is a three-quarter inch slip to threads. it holds a rigid copper barrel. I have another union that I use that is one inch steel thread to thread. I bought a 5 foot long 1 inch wooden dowel rod that i cut up into 2" pieces. It fits great down the one inch barrel. It's like a wooden slug.
I have a question. Sometimes when i fire a shot, usually a 4 or 5x shot, the bang is very weak and the projectile comes out slow. Is that from a bad mix or maybe my air is too lean or rich. Or do i have to make sure there are no spent fumes in my chamber.
My chamber is 32 ci. On a 1x mix i use 13 psi propane . Or on a 4x mix i use 52psi of propane and 60 air
Talk to me boys

Happy superbowl sunday yall!!!
So i fixed my problem. Come to find out that it was a gauge issue. I was filling to a whole bar to much on the air side. So at a 5x mix i had to fill to 4 bar. The gun shot absolutely mint!! I have it on YouTube. I just don't know how to post the link. Go under steve wells and hybrid#2 test
